Services & Sliding Scale

Sliding Scale

We are happy to offer payment options that are flexible for our patients.

The green bottle system was developed by Alexis J. Cunningfolk at Worts & Cunning Apothecary. As a tool for economic justice, the purpose of this "quantifiable" system is to help people understand what they can and cannot pay for services.

We rely on your thoughtfulness and honesty to make this work for both the patients and providers. From Cunningfolk, "At the end of the day, the sliding scale thrives on trust. Trust is a pretty amazing thing. I trust you to be honest in your assessment of your economic reality."

While we always value patients over profits, this is also a new business that benefits the community by its survival.

Baltimore Community Midwives does not accept any insurance at this time. We are happy to supply a superbill for services to submit to insurance. Blood work is typically done through Quest or Labcorp and covered by your insurance. Prescriptions at the pharmacy of your choice will also run through your insurance.

If you need help understanding if you have out-of-network benefits that would cover our services, give us a call or send us a message and we can connect you to a biller who can help you with this information.

Gender Affirming Care

$150 - $25

Gender affirming care consists of one intake visit followed by 3-month follow ups for blood work with the 6-month and 12-month visit in person for hormone therapy.  Follow-up visits cost less unless you are at the Bottle 4 level, the visits remain the same price.

Birth services

$7,200 - $5,000

Birth services encompass the prenatal period through the postpartum period. The prenatal schedule we use is the standard timeline recommended by ACNM and ACOG including timing for blood work, genetic testing, screening for gestational diabetes, and ultrasounds.

Typically, prenatal care is started around 10 weeks of pregnancy or about 2.5 months pregnant. On average, people can expect a total of 12-14 visits in a pregnancy and at least one ultrasound. We accept later transfers of care in the second trimester if you have had prenatal care elsewhere. The cost is not discounted for later start and the hope is still to be paid by 8 months of pregnancy or 36 weeks.

Prenatal care is done at the office with an additional per-visit fee for home visiting. We are most comfortable with home births in Baltimore City with few exceptions for Baltimore County, and other areas where midwifery service may be less available.

Reproductive Health

$150-$25

Reproductive health services range from annual preventive care, screening for STIs, problem visits (PCOS, heavy bleeding, infections), menopause care, birth control consultations.

We do not offer home visits for reproductive health care.

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

$300 for consults and $150 per attempt

Consultations for IUI include coaching on fertility, cycle tracking, and how to choose the right sperm bank for your needs. The $300 fee also include a 3-month follow up to assess readiness to attempt conception because we want to be sure it's the right time to order and insert the sperm.

IUI attempts based on the cycle tracking can be done at your home or at the office based on your preferences and/or proximity to the office.
